3-Jan-2015 - Samurai Judo Academy promotes Multiculturalism
The values of SJA are strongly aligned with those of the Ethnic Councils of NSW, examples of which are:
SJA currently has families from 19 different cultural backgrounds training and growing every month!
We actively promote the principles of multiculturalism and democratic attitudes for racial harmony and understanding via the priniciples of judo, the 'Gentle Way'
We provide a medium by which families from a multi-cultural backgrounds can come together and interact with Australian born people via a common interest
By promoting healthy & delicious international food at our award days and other celebrations, we actively promote the social and cultural life of multi-cultural communities.
Via our 18 year history of cultural exchanges with members of the Judo community in Ube, our sister city in Japan, we support cultural ties that have been recognized by the Mayoral offices of both cities holding functions to welcome and exchange gifts from each city every 2-4 years.
We purposely keep training fees as low as possible in order to make the programs affordable for all - revenue is reinvested into infrastructure and we currently support a number of families who would otherwise be unable to pay for their talented children to represent the Hunter
